Wilson Morocho, Diego Cajas, Jonathan Alejandro Espinoza Cajas, Gustavo Merchan, and Paul E. Castro Coronel worked in a parking lot for over 12 years but did not believe they were receiving proper compensation from their employer, MTP Parking Lot, MTP Investment Group, MTP Operating Corp, and LIC Operating 49 LLC. The plaintiffs hired experienced wage claim attorneys from the law firm of Gordon & Gordon. On June 26, 2019, the plaintiffs filed a federal wage and hour complaint alleging their employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and the provisions of the New York Labor Law, by failing to pay overtime compensation and the minimum wage for all hours worked. On June 2, 2022, the Court held a settlement conference and both parties settled the case on the record. The settlement was approved as being fair and reasonable.

Grounds For Filing The Lawsuit And Settlement Agreement

When the plaintiffs filed an FLSA claim, they alleged they were not being compensated fairly because they worked more hours than were paid for by their employer. With the help of the labor & employment lawyers at Gordon & Gordon, the case was settled and the plaintiffs were awarded a six-figure settlement.

Settlement Amounts For Plaintiffs

As a result of the settlement, each plaintiff received a pro-rata share of the lump sum settlement. When you have multiple plaintiffs, the amount received from a settlement or verdict after a trial for the plaintiff is based on the number of hours and years they worked for the employer. The diligent work of the wage claim lawyers ensured that these employees were fairly compensated and the employer was held accountable for their actions.

How Working With A Wage Claim Attorney Benefitted The Plaintiffs

The wage claim lawyers at Gordon & Gordon diligently represented the plaintiffs in their FLSA claim lawsuit. The plaintiffs’ employer violated The Fair Labor Standards Act, The New York State Labor Law, and The New York wage, wage payment, wage theft, and wage-hour laws. Hiring the expertise of a wage claim attorney was a major reason the plaintiffs received a reasonable compensation amount.
